A train derailment caused a portion of the southbound lane of Irvin Cobb drive to be closed for a few hours. Derailments such as this can create a potentially hazardous environment for oncoming motorists.

When a train derails, authorities must take immediate and adequate precaution to ensure the safety of motorists traveling on nearby roads. Officials must ensure that all trash and debris has been cleared from all nearby roadways and that there are no other potential risks and hazards to oncoming traffic.
