Men Over 55 Risk Fathering Children With Bipolar Disorder

A recent study from the Karolinski Institute tells us that children are more likely to develop Bipolar Disorder, or manic-depressive syndrome, if the father is older in years, particularly over 55.

Compared with other men who are in their 20s, men over 55 have a 37% chance of fathering a child with a Bipolar Disorder. The Disorder typically surfaces in late adolescence or early adulthood. The early onset of the disease has been associated with a link to genetics.
